A Country Inn Steeped in History and Character.
The Leyland Arms is a Grade II* listed country inn in the heart of Llanelidan, North Wales. With roots dating back to the 14th century, we offer guests a warm welcome, hearty food, cosy stays, and the calm of the countryside.
Our Story
The Leyland Arms has stood at the heart of Llanelidan for centuries. Dating back to the 14th century, this Grade II* listed building was once a working farm on the Naylor-Leyland estate and has long served as a gathering place for the village. Over the years, it has evolved into a traditional country inn — still full of charm, character, and original features. Today, The Leyland Arms remains a welcoming spot for locals and visitors alike, offering hearty food, cosy accommodation, and a chance to slow down and enjoy the peace and heritage of the North Wales countryside.
Our Team
At The Leyland Arms, we’re a small team with a shared passion for good food, genuine hospitality, and the charm of village life. From the kitchen to the bar, every member of the team plays a part in creating the relaxed, welcoming atmosphere our guests love. Many of us are local to the area and proud to share what makes Llanelidan special. Whether you’re greeted at the bar, served at your table, or shown to your accommodation, you’ll be looked after by people who care about the details — and who love what they do.
What We Offer
At The Leyland Arms, we blend traditional hospitality with simple, thoughtful comforts. Our seasonal menu is prepared fresh using locally sourced ingredients, served in a relaxed, welcoming setting. Above the pub, two self-contained apartments offer a homely base for couples or families, while three cosy shepherd huts provide a peaceful retreat in the grounds. We also offer private hire for intimate celebrations and village gatherings, with indoor and marquee options available. Whether you’re joining us for a meal, a weekend stay, or something special, The Leyland Arms offers an experience rooted in place, food, and warm, honest service.
Our Setting
Tucked beneath the rolling Clwydian Hills, the village of Llanelidan offers a rare kind of stillness. The Leyland Arms overlooks the village church and cricket pitch, with countryside walks beginning just steps from the door. Ruthin, a historic market town with shops, galleries and attractions, is just five miles away. Here, the pace is slower and the welcome genuine. Guests often say it feels like time slows down — and that’s exactly how we like it. Whether you’re walking, reading, dining, or simply watching the light shift across the fields, there’s something grounding about life here in Llanelidan.
What Matters to Us
We believe in doing things properly and with care — from the food we prepare to the way we welcome each guest. We support local producers where possible and take pride in offering something real and rooted in its surroundings. We’re not flashy, but we are thoughtful: about how we cook, how we design our spaces, and how we run our pub. What matters most is that our guests feel at home, well fed, and well looked after. Whether you're here for one night or many, we want you to leave feeling rested, full, and quietly inspired.
